Today, we’re celebrating an incredible Hidden Lake success story—our very own Chuy! 🦸‍♂️💙

Chuy passed the ACCESS assessment, an incredibly challenging language exam, and earned one of the highest scores in the entire school district! 📚🏆 While that accomplishment alone is something to celebrate, Chuy’s story is about so much more than a test score.

His CLD teacher, Mr. Peres shared:

Jesus Ibarra, a student at Hidden Lake Secondary School, achieved one of the highest scores on the ACCESS assessment in the school district, which is an incredibly difficult language exam. These test results are just one data point of Jesus's success story here at Hidden Lake. One of the most amazing things about Chuy is that he hated school when he first arrived here. He did not want to be here, he lacked focus, and he was failing his classes. Little by little, everything changed. He began helping other students, volunteering to read in front of the class, and participating as a student leader. I once told him that he was smart, and he replied that no one had ever told him that before. He came to our school with only 1 credit. In his junior year alone, he earned 10.5 credits. Chuy is a true Hidden Lake Secondary School success story.

Chuy’s journey is a powerful reminder that where you start does not determine where you finish. His story shows the impact of believing in yourself, having people believe in you, and choosing to keep moving forward—even when things don’t start out easy.

From struggling to find his place in school to becoming a student leader, a helper to his peers, an active participant in the classroom, and one of the highest ACCESS scorers in the district, Chuy has shown incredible growth. 🌟
