WESTY HOSTS ITS ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE
Our Westminster High School HOSA chapter is once again partnering with Vitalant to host a Valentine’s Blood Drive. The event will be held at WHS from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM on February 13th. Potential donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by clicking here or by scanning the QR code below in order to ensure a smooth and efficient donation experience.
Donating blood is a simple and rewarding way to help others in need and almost anyone in our community can volunteer to give the gift of life! Each blood donation has the potential to save 3 lives! Donating blood is a safe and relatively painless process.
HOSA is a student-led organization - one of the many Westy CTE Organizations on campus. They empower future healthcare workers to learn about career opportunities in the healthcare industry through community service projects with current medical professionals. The partnering organization, Vitalant, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a safe and reliable blood supply to hospitals and patients across the country.
Community members who are not students or staff of Westminster High School are encouraged to donate blood as well. Please check in at the security office located at the main entrance of WHS and one of our HOSA members will greet you and escort you to where the blood drive is being held.
The good news is that even if you donated blood at our drive last semester on October 30th, enough time has passed that you are eligible to donate again unless you gave a “Power Red” (double donation) last time.

You must be at least 16 years old to donate. The height/weight requirements for female donors under the age of 22 are listed below. Male donors under the age of 22 must be 5’0” tall and weigh at least 110 pounds. 16 and 17-year-olds need a parent's permission to donate.
