Meet the Principal

Dear Hidden Lake Secondary School Community,
Happy New Year! As we step into the second semester, I want to take a moment to reflect on our successes and set the tone for the months ahead.
First, I am thrilled to share that our students are making meaningful progress, as evidenced by initial growth on the STAR assessments. This growth is a testament to the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff to fostering academic success. As we continue to build on this momentum, preparing for the upcoming SATs and PSATs remains a top priority. These assessments play a vital role in opening doors for post-secondary opportunities, and we are committed to equipping our students with the tools and confidence they need to excel.
Beyond the classroom, this year has been marked by numerous engaging field trips that have enriched our students' learning experiences. From exploring new career paths to gaining hands-on exposure to academic concepts, these opportunities are instrumental in preparing students for their futures. However, participation in these trips comes with responsibility. I’d like to remind everyone that students must maintain at least 80% attendance during the second semester to be eligible for field trips, as well as for Prom. This policy underscores the importance of consistent attendance, which is crucial for both academic success and meaningful engagement in our school community.
While we are encouraged by the positive results of the first semester, now is not the time to slow down. Let’s keep pushing forward to finish the year strong. Parents, your continued support is invaluable—whether it’s encouraging your student to attend school daily, helping them set goals, or reminding them of the importance of the work they’re doing now. Together, we can ensure that our students are fully prepared for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you for being a part of the Hidden Lake family and for your ongoing commitment to our students' success. Let’s make the second semester one of growth, achievement, and celebration!
Best,
Richard Diehl
